The Department of Biological and Physical Sciences (USQ) is involved in a
GRDC funded project to investigate the development of frost resistant wheat
by the use of genetic engineering.  The project has access to PC2
laboratories and glasshouses and components of the project will be
undertaken in collaboration with the University of Adelaide.  We are seeking
a suitably qualified Post-Doctoral Fellow to undertake both the development
of DNA constructs and the generation of transgenic wheat plants
incorporating and expressing these constructs.  The appointee will be
required to assist with the supervision of research students and will also
play a role in the investigation and optimisation of plant transformation
technologies.  Appointment is available on a full-time basis for a period of
up to three years.

Qualifications/Skills:  Applicants must possess, or be about to complete, a
PhD in a relevant area of molecular biology.  Familiarity with techniques in
plant molecular biology is essential together with a track record of
publications published in, or submitted to, international refereed research
journals.  Communication, planning and organisation skills together with the
ability to work as part of a team are also essential.  Experience in cereal
transformation is highly desirable.

  Salary:  Academic Level A $33,546.67 to  $45,237.23 pa
