Plant Molecular Biology

A postdoctoral position is available to study molecular mechanisms of
shoot apical meristem function at the USDA Plant Gene Expression Center
in Albany, CA, located approximately two miles from the UC Berkeley
campus. Work in the lab focuses on understanding how cell proliferation
is controlled by the CLAVATA ligand-receptor kinase
signal transduction pathway in Arabidopsis shoot and floral meristems.
The project will involve conducting molecular and biochemical analyses
of the recently cloned CLV3 gene (Fletcher et al,
1999, Science 283:1911-14), the putative ligand for the
CLV1 LRR receptor kinase, and identifying other
members of the CLV pathway.

Candidates should have a strong background in protein
biochemistry/molecular biology. The appointment is initially for two
years, and preference will be given to candidates with the potential to
obtain independent funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience
and qualifications. Applicants should send a c.v., a description of
their research experience, and the names and addresses of three
references to Dr. Jennifer Fletcher, Plant Gene Expression Center, 800
Buchanan Street, Albany, CA 94710, or by email to
jfletcher at pgec.ars.usda.gov</bigger></fontfamily>
