Plant Molecular Biology Research
Boyce Thompson Insitute for Plant Research, Cornell University
Two postdoctoral researcher/research assistant positions are available
in the field of plant molecular biology, using chloroplast transformation
techniques to address fundamental mechanisms of gene regulation, primarily
at the post-transcriptional level. One person, either at the postdoctoral
or research assistant level, will achieve and then exploit chloroplast
transformation in tomato, as a collaborative project with Dr. Maureen Hanson
(Cornell University; mrh5 at cornell.edu). The studies will focus on RNA editing,
RNA stability and/or translation initiation, and are initially funded for
one year, with a possible future extension. A second position, at the
postdoctoral
level, will participate in a multi-investigator project using genomics
techniques to study the regulation of photosynthesis, using
Chlamydomonas
as a model system. Research at BTI will focus on expression and function
of the chloroplast genome, and is funded for an initial 3-year period.
For both positions, experience with recombinant DNA techniques is essential,
and a personal interview is required. Please contact David Stern, phone
607-254-1306, email ds28 at cornell.edu with any questions, and/or send CV
along with the names of three references. The Boyce Thompson Institute
is an affirmative action employer.
