Ph.D. position in Plant Molecular Biology

A Ph.D. position is available to study the regulation of the heat shock
response in Arabidopsis thaliana /*Plant Physiol. (1998) 117:
1135-1141*/. Emphasis will be on heat shock transcription factors. Heat
shock transcription factors constitute a large gene family in
Arabidopsis thaliana and regulate the expression of chaperones and other
stress-related genes. Transgenic plants overexpressing heat shock
transcription factors show an increased basic thermotolerance /*Mol.
Gen. Genet. (1998) 258: 269-278*/. The successful candidate should focus
on protein-DNA interaction and should be interested in contributing to
the development of new tools of analysis.

The Ph.D. position is available immediately and limited for the moment
to two years. The salary is DM 1800.- net a month. Master degree in
biochemistry, biology or chemistry is required. Experience in plant
molecular biology, transcription factors or stress response is desirable
but not essential.
