RESEARCH ASSISTANT OPENING

Agritope is an Oregon based agricultural functional genomics and
biotechnology company that develops improved plant products and provides
technology to the agricultural industry.  Its fruit and vegetable division
specializes in the development of novel fruit, vegetable, and flower
varieties.  Agrinomics, LLC, its 50% owned joint venture with Aventis
CropScience, conducts a research, development and commercialization program
in the field of plant functional genomics.

We are seeking applications from highly motivated and talented people to
join our Biochemical Genomics team.  Working in a state-of-the-art
laboratory, the Research Assistant will isolate and characterize metabolites
from a variety of plant samples.  The Research Assistant will also assist in
the identification of lines that display genetic variation for metabolites
of interest and will perform genetic analysis of identified lines.  This
position reports to the Director of Biochemical Genomics.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for performing chemical
manipulations safely and quantitatively, operating chemical instrumentation
and computers, maintaining a stock of reagents and preparing various working
stocks of chemicals, and may perform general molecular biology techniques
including cloning, PCR, Electrophoresis and Blotting.

Applicants must hold a BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology
and have a solid understanding of and experience practicing good
quantitative analytical technique.  Additional  experience in the following
is desirable: GC, HPLC, or Mass spectroscopy; LIMS systems and laboratory
automation; methods of development and validation; coursework in
Quantitative Analytical Chemistry or Instrumental Analysis; automation
development; plants and genetics.

Applicants must possess a strong work ethic, demonstrate meticulous
attention to detail, be able to work with minimal supervision, be diligent
in following instructions and maintaining laboratory notes in both notebook
and electronic format.
