REGULATION OF PLANT PROGRAMMED CELL DEATH DURING PATHOGEN ATTACK

Post-doctoral positions are currently available to work on understanding
the mechanisms  and pathways involved during pathogen challenge to
transgenic plants harboring mammalian
regulators of apoptosis. Our previous data has indicated that these
transgenes confer heritable resistance to certain groups of fungal and
viral pathogens. Work will entail characterizing these responses at the
molecular and cellular levels. In addition studies will be initiated to
identify relevant plant genes.

The application should have a Ph.D. in biology/biochemistry with a stromg
background in plant molecular biology and/ or molecular host -pathogen
interaction (esp. virology).
