POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS
IN MAIZE GENOMICS
Schnable Lab
Three post-doctoral positions are available immediately to develop
high-throughput mapping tools for the maize genome. The research will
focus on the development of: 1) a novel class of molecular markers to
facilitate high-throughput genetic mapping experiments such as will be
required to study complex genetic traits such as heterosis; and 2) a
novel technology to genetically map in parallel thousands of ESTs.
These positions are funded by a grant from the NSF plant genome
program. Details of this award can be found at
http://www.nsf.gov/cgi-bin/showaward?award=9975868.
Candidates should have a demonstrated capability for innovative
research, be highly motivated, interested in working in a dynamic
research environment and well versed in genetics, molecular biology and
biochemistry. Experience with microarray technology, bioinformatics and
plant biology would be a significant plus.
Applicants should send a curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of
three references to: Dr. Patrick S. Schnable, Director of the Center for
Plant Genomics, Department of Agronomy, Iowa State University, Ames, IA
50011 or via e-mail at schnable at iastate.edu.
Iowa State University has recently announced an $80 million gift to the
College of Agriculture and has also established the Plant Sciences
Institute that houses several research centers including the Center for
Plant Genomics.
