9TH CELL WALL MEETING
2-7 September 2001
This is the First Circular for the 9th Cell Wall Meeting that will be held
in Toulouse, France in September 2001. The aim of the Cell Wall Meetings is
to bring together scientists from all horizons whose research deals with any
aspect of plant cell walls. The philosophy of these meetings is that they
are completely open; there are no invited speakers, no-one gets their
expenses paid, they are run on a non-profit basis, and everyone who attends
can present either a short talk or a poster. The consequence is that the
program is denser than in other meetings, and the talks are shorter. The
organisers of the 9th Cell Wall Meeting are commited to keep that tradition
Registration costs will be kept as low as possible to especially encourage
students and young research scientists. We strongly encourage industrial
participation in order to establish necessary links between basic cell wall
research and potential downstream applications.
Registration is on Sunday, September 2, in order to start talks early on
Monday. Poster sessions will be held throughout the meeting. Evening
receptions as well as a banquet will be organised.
Lectures and poster sessions will be held at the "Pierre Baudis" Conference
Centre in downtown Toulouse. This is a comfortable and well-equipped centre
with a 500-seat auditorium.
A book containing abstracts of lectures and posters will be produced.
Accommodations will be available in many hotels around the Conference
Centre. A limited number of University residences may be also available for
students and young researchers.
The programme will cover all aspects of cell walls from plants, as well as
from algae and fungi dealing with:
- relevance to industries.
These topics will be divided into subsections according to the=20
