2 Postdoc-Positions Plant Molecular Biology
IPK Gatersleben, Germany

The IPK Gatersleben is a public research centre, with the objective to
carry
out basic and applied research in the field of molecular plant breeding
(http://www.ipk-gatersleben.de.)

The Gene Transfer Group at the IPK
(http://www.ipk-gatersleben.de/agruppen/ipkengt.htm.) has efficient
transformation systems for the production of transgenic wheat, barley,
rye,
ryegrass, red fescue and pea in place. The selected candidates will work
in
a team focussing on the incorporation and characterisation of in- and
output traits in cereals, grasses and grain legumes using genetic
transformation technology. The current opening will be funded for a
period
of three years from December 2000 at the scale BAT-IIa-OST.

Since vector construction and molecular analysis of transgenic crops
with
the aim of metabolic pathway engineering will be the major activities of
the
selected candidates we expect extensive experience with standard
molecular
biology techniques. Experience with plant tissue culture and
-transformation
is a plus but not essential.

Gatersleben is located in the centre of Germany, close to the Harz
mountains
and the historic city of Quedlinburg.
