We are investigating the interactions of hormonal signaling and reactive
oxygen species (ROS) in controlling plant cell death and defense
responses. We have demonstrated the requirement and interactions for
ethylene, jasmonate and salicylate signaling pathways in ROS-dependent
cell death using an Arabidopsis mutant rcd1 (Overmyer et al., Plant Cell
12, 1849-1862).

A two-year postdoctoral position is available to investigate the molecular
basis of RCD1 function and to participate in the screening and genetic
analysis of rcd1 suppressor mutants. Ph.D. degree from a suitable field
and a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry and plant
physiology is required.

The position will be filled at the earliest from 1st of August 2001 and at
the latest 1st of January 2002. The salary is between 2000 and 2500
Euros/month depending on qualifications and previous experience.

To apply, please send CV, description of research experience and the names
and addresses (including email) of three references to Prof. Jaakko
