Two postdoctoral Research Associate positions are available to investigate
induced plant resistance to insect herbivores. Successful candidates will
join an interdisciplinary research team focused on elucidating the role of
jasmonic acid and related oxylipins in regulating the expression of
phytochemical defenses. One position will involve biochemical
characterization of tomato signaling mutants affected in jasmonate-mediated
defense responses. Demonstrated experience in analytical biochemistry
(HPLC, TLC, GC, GC-MS) is desirable. The second position will involve gene
expression profiling, including DNA microarray analysis, of mutants that
have altered resistance to insect herbivores. Broad knowledge of plant
molecular biology, and experience with analysis of differential gene
expression, is desired. Highly motivated candidates having a Ph.D. in
molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field are encouraged to
apply. Salaries are competitive and include a comprehensive benefits
package. Please forward an application outlining research experience and
interests, curriculum vitae, representative reprints, and the names and
addresses of three references to: Gregg A. Howe, MSU-DOE Plant Research
Laboratory, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI 48824. Email:
howeg at msu.edu. Screening of applications will begin January 15, 2001 and
will continue until the positions are filled. Affirmative Action/ Equal
Opportunity Employer.
