A laboratory manager position (Senior Biologist Level) for the
Laboratory of Plant Molecular Physiology at the University of
Florida, headed by Dr. Fredy Altpeter is anticipated to become
available in July 2002 (subject to final budget approval).
Responsibilities include:
Research in stress physiology, gene expression profiling, traits
dissection in transgenic monocots, tissue culture, genetic
transformation and field release of transgenic plants.
Train and supervise postdocs, graduate- and undergraduate students in
methods of plant physiology, -molecular biology, and tissue culture.
Laboratory logistic and safety.
We are interested in candidates with experience in plant molecular
biology techniques, stress physiology, gene expression profiling,
library construction and monocot transformation.
The annual salary is in the range of 30 000 US$ plus benefits. Both
US- and non-US residents are encouraged to apply. Sponsoring for
H1b-visa status is optional. The position has high potential to
become permanent, subject to a satisfying probation period and
obtaining legal permanent residency in the US.
Gainesville is a city of 140 000 with 44 000 students located half
way between the atlantic and gulf and is always rated among the top
