An ANU/ARC funded position is available in Canberra for a Technical
Officer involving both participation in current research projects in
plant molecular biology and biochemistry as well as maintenance and
organization of the laboratory and plant growth facilities. Main
research areas are in high
light stress genetics and physiology in the higher plant Arabidopsis
and the green algal model organism Chlamydomonas in relation to
pigment biosynthesis, photosynthetic and developmental processes in
higher plants. A basic understanding and interest in plant biology
and some experience in
molecular techniques, data processing and maintenance/organisation in
research environment are preferred, however applicants over a range
of skill levels will be considered. The successful applicant has the
opportunity to learn a wide range of standard and novel molecular and
biochemical techniques
(for example DNA microarrays, real time PCR, HPLC, 2DE protein analysis).
Appointment will be for a fixed term of two years and will be at the
ANU Officer Grade 4/5 (Technical) level, within the salary range
$33,985-$41,345 pa, plus generous superannuation provisions.
