POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS OF PLANT-MICROBE INTERACTIONS

A postdoctoral position, funded by the NSF Plant Genome Program, is
available immediately to identify and characterize pathogen virulence genes
using high throughput functional expression assays. The selected organism is
the Irish famine pathogen, Phytophthora infestans, for which significant
genome resources are available. The research will be conducted in the
laboratory of Sophien Kamoun, at the Ohio Agricultural Research and
Development Center of the Ohio State University, with access to state of the
art service facilities in genomics and modern plant biology. The overall
project will consist of a combination of bioinformatic data mining and
functional assays, and will offer opportunities for training and close
interaction with bioinformaticists at the National Center for Genome
Resources, Santa Fe, New Mexico (www.ncgr.org).

Applicants should have a background in molecular genetics, molecular
biology, or a related field, and an excellent publication record. Experience
with plant biology or plant pathology is not required. Applicants should
submit a cover letter describing experience, a cv, a list of publications,
and the names of three references to Sophien Kamoun, Dept. of Plant
Pathology, The Ohio State University-OARDC, 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster, OH
44691; sophien at oomycete.net. Additional information about the laboratory,
including recent publication, can be found at www.KamounLab.net.
