EU Research Training Network on Novel Ion Channels In Plants (NICIP)
A postdoctoral researcher (european but not french) is looked for an
attractive appointement of 3 years to participate in an European
Project dealing with molecular and electrophysiological
characterisation of new cation channels involved in nutrient
acquisition and signalling. The joint project include 6 european labs
which have scheduled exchange of fellows to provide additional
training, workshops, annual meetings : (1) Bernd Mueller-Roeber /
Katrin Czempinski, Potsdam, Germany; (2) Mark Tester, Cambridge,
Great Britain; (3) H=E9l=E8ne Barbier-Brygoo, Gif-sur-Yvette, France; (4)

The group "Canaux Ioniques" in Montpellier working on potassium
transport in the plant is one of the pioneers in the field of
channel-mediated cation transport in plant cells. Recently, two new
research programs have been developed - dealing on one hand with the
ion channel family CNGC putatively involved in signalling mechanisms
and on the other hand with transport processes involved in
ectomycorrhizal symbiosis. The post-doc to be hired in our group will
work especially on the characterization of members of the CNGC
family. Experience in molecular biology or/and electrophysiology will
be required. Training in electrophysiology (heterologous as well as
homologous systems) can be provided. Working visits in joint labs
will provide additional experiences, e.g. with respect to Ca2+
measurements, vacuolar studies, etc.
