Postdoctoral Position Available

Where: Northeastern University, Boston, MA
Specialties: Plant Molecular Biology/Gene Regulation

Description:
A postdoctoral position is available immediately to work
on a grant-funded project whose goal is to develop novel
transgenic seaweed strains for use in the remediation and
detoxification of toxic compounds such as TNT and
mercury in marine and estuarine habitats. Specifically,
this project will focus on the expression of TNT and
mercury-detoxifying bacterial genes in a seaweed that
we have successfully transformed. The successful
applicant will join a growing laboratory specializing in
developing new phytoremediation technologies for the
marine environment utilizing native and genetically
engineered seaweeds.

Application Instructions:
Applicants must have a PhD in plant molecular biology,
genetics, biochemistry or a related field. Experience with
molecular biology techniques, especially PCR, RT-PCR,
Southern blotting, gene cloning and Agrobacterium-mediated
transformation, is highly desirable. To apply, send a CV,
plus statements of research experience and interests, and
the names and addresses of three references to Donald
Cheney, Biology Department, Northeastern University,
Boston, MA 02115; fax: 617, 373-3724.
