POSITION TITLE: Postdoctoral Research Fellow
DEPARTMENT: Plant Sciences, North Dakota State University
SALARY: 33,000+/year, commensurate with experience
DESCRIPTION: A postdoctoral position is available in the
Department of Plant Sciences, North Dakota State University to
investigate root bud dormancy and growth in perennial weeds. The
responsibilities of this position involves (1) developing an
expressed sequence tag (EST)-database from the subtracted cDNA
libraries of leafy spurge and (2) identifying developmentally-,
environmentally?, and temporally-regulated cDNA clones associated
with growth and development using microarray and/or other molecular
techniques.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: An earned Ph.D. in plant molecular
biology/biochemistry/physiology or a related subject. Applicant
should demonstrate experience in plant molecular biology and
biochemistry. The position requires knowledge of basic molecular
biology techniques such as Southern, Northern, and Western analyses,
PCR and RT?PCR, gene cloning and expression, and plant transformation.
QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED BUT
NOT REQUIRED: Experience with gene regulation and silencing, signal
pathways, protein isolation, protein biochemistry, real time PCR, or
genomics. Experience with data mining of biological databases and
management of large, heterogeneous datasets is desirable.
