Root Response to Abiotic Stresses - Arabidopsis and Corn
Two Postdoctoral Positions

Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately to study root response
to abiotic stress in corn and Arabidopsis. The Schachtman laboratory has
ongoing projects in the areas of root response to drought and nutrient
deficiency. One postdoc will focus on molecular aspects of root response to
stress and the other postdoc will focus mainly on the proteomics of root
response to stress. Successful candidates will join a research group that
includes molecular biologists and plant physiologists. The successful
molecular biologist will have a range of molecular skills and will have a
demonstrated ability to learn new techniques rapidly. An interest in
working with membrane transport proteins would be advantageous. The
proteomics postdoc will have skills in protein separation (2D-gels and LC)
and protein chemistry and experience with or a willingness to learn Mass
Spec analysis of proteins (MALDI and Q-TOF) and database searching. The
Danforth Center provides a collaborative environment for interdisciplinary
research. Our facility is new and well equipped including excellent plant
growth facilities and state of the art proteomics and microscopy labs.
Highly motivated candidates having a Ph.D. in molecular biology,
biochemistry or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Salaries are competitive and include excellent benefits. Email an
application with CV, publication list, and email addresses of three
