Our research integrates efficient genetic transformation protocols
for commercially important cereals and grasses and functional genomics
for the dissection and engineering of molecular components of stress tolerance.
The selected candidate will focus on comparative genomics of drought
tolerance in grasses, involving
database mining, identification of differentially expressed
regulatory genes, isolation of genes by hybridization
and PCR based methods, construction of plant expression vectors for
RNAi suppression or over-expression of candidate genes,
molecular and phenotypic characterization of transgenic plants.
QUALIFICATION: Ph. D. in Molecular Genetics or related field with a
strong organizational, written and oral communication, and computer
skills. The candidate must have solid hands-on experience in a wide
range of molecular biology protocols. Experience of working in teams,
as well as an ability to work independently, is essential. Experience
with microarrays is desirable.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Annual starting salary will commensurate with
qualifications and experience in the range of $ 29,000 and $ 32,000
plus benefits.
