PROFESSORIAL/ SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER POSTS
Functional Genomics & Applied Bioinformatics/Cell Biology & Molecular
Genetics/ Ecology & Evolutionary Biology
School of Biological Sciences, University of London
The School of Biological Sciences at Royal Holloway, University of London
(http://www.rhul.ac.uk/Biological-Sciences) invites applications for
appointments in the School for three posts at Professorial, Senior Lecturer
or Lecturer levels. Candidates should have a proven track record of
scholarship, research productivity and attracting research funds, with
international standing commensurate with the level of the appointment.
Appointees will be required also to teach, supervise and examine
undergraduate and graduate students, and to contribute to administration of
the School. Candidates having research and teaching interests in plant
sciences are invited to apply for all three areas listed below.
Functional Genomics/ Applied Bioinformatics: Individuals with research
interests utilizing post-genomic technologies are particularly encouraged to
apply. We will be pleased to consider individuals with expertise in one or
more of the following areas: systems biology, expression profiling,
proteomics, metabolomics, mass spectroscopy, protein-protein interactions,
cell signaling pathways, microarray technology, comparative genomics.
Cell Biology/ Molecular Genetics: We will be pleased to consider individuals
with expertise in one or more of the following areas: bio-imaging, molecular
genetics, cell signaling pathways, model organism studies.
Ecology/ Evolutionary Biology: Individuals with research interests across
the spectrum of ecology and evolutionary biology are encouraged to apply. We
will be pleased to consider individuals with expertise in one or more of the
following areas: global climate change, environmental sustainability,
environmental microbiology, behavioural ecology & conservation,
parasitology, macro-ecology, experimental evolution, ecotoxicology,
enviro-informatics, environmental genomics and genetics.
The School of Biological Sciences at Royal Holloway, University of London
constitutes four highly-integrated and dynamic research centres: Biomedical
Sciences; Plant Molecular Sciences; Ecology, Evolution & Behaviour; Chemical
& Bioanalytical Sciences. The School is engaged in leading-edge research
across the spectrum of molecular and organismal bioscience. The School holds
grade 5 research assessment (RAE) status which denotes international
excellence, and a maximum grade 24 teaching quality assessment (QAA) rating.
Research and teaching activities are underpinned by technologies spanning
functional genomics, metabolomics, molecular genetics, microbiology, gene
therapeutics, advanced cell biology, model organism analyses, population
studies, ecology, evolutionary biology, and computational biology.
