<x-flowed>Available: Postdoctoral research position in the area of
gene expression in
cereal crops. Duties are to devise and implement strategies for the
discovery and characterization of inducible or repressible cereal crop
promoters, with an emphasis on developing promoters that function within
the reproductive parts of the plant. The research will include 1) creative
experimental design comprising the identification and selection of
promising gene expression regulators and the promoters that respond to them
and 2) experiments to evaluate candidate elicitor/promoter combinations in
transgenic cereal plants. The position is available for at least 1 year
with subsequent years contingent upon funding and performance. Research
experience with cereal crop transformation, floral development, and/or gene
expression profiling is desirable. Although the associate will be hired by
the University of California - Davis, the research will be conducted at the
USDA Agricultural Research Service's Western Regional Research Center
