Position as Lab Manager/Scientist

Maize genetics labs seeks a lab manager/scientist to conduct research
in maize genetics and oversee technicians and students. The research
project will involve characterizing genes controlling plant and ear
architecture in maize and its relatives. Experience with the many of
the following research methods is desired: DNA and RNA isolation,
molecular cloning with plasmid vectors, protein purification, western
blotting, vector construction, DNA sequencing, Southern and northern
blotting, tissue in situ hybridization, and PCR-based methods.  Good
communication and organizational skills are needed.  Other
responsibilities include experimental design, maintaining laboratory
records, and preparation of reports and publications.  PhD or MS in
appropriate biological science and a knowledge of plant biology
required.  The position is located in the laboratory of John Doebley,
Genetics Department, the University of Wisconsin, Madison
