The Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics
(www.life.umd.edu/CBMG) at the University of Maryland, College Park,
seeks outstanding applicants for open rank faculty positions in
FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS.  We are particularly interested in applicants who
are using genetic model systems to investigate fundamental problems in
gene/genome function.  Those hired will be expected to maintain a
vigorous, externally funded research program and to participate in
undergraduate and graduate teaching.  Applicants must have a doctorate
degree, relevant postdoctoral experience, significant research
accomplishments and a commitment to excellence in teaching.  Applicants
at the senior level should provide evidence of strong grant support and
leadership in their field.

College Park is the flagship campus of the University of Maryland
System, and is located in the Washington DC area adjacent to numerous
government and biotechnology institutions.  The Department offers a
highly interactive research environment and outstanding research
facilities, including a new state-of-the-art Bioscience Research
Building where the new hires will be housed.  There are excellent
opportunities for interactions with the research centers on campus, such
as the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and the
Center for Biosystems Research, and with nearby institutions, such as
National Institutes of Health, The Institute for Genomic Research,
