Dear Colleagues,

New York University has recently announced searches for two faculty
positions in genomics and bioinformatics. Plant researchers are encouraged
to apply. See Details below.

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY
=46aculty Positions
Department of Biology
Center for Comparative Functional Genomics

As part of a multi-year hiring plan, New York University=92s Center for
Comparative Functional Genomics in the Department of Biology invites
applications for multiple faculty positions (rank open) to begin September
1, 2005, or as negotiated, subject to budgetary and administrative approval.
Candidates using experimental and/or computational methods and working at
the interface of biological mechanisms, evolution, and
genomics/bioinformatics are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates will
be expected to have or develop active, externally funded research programs
and to participate in the department's teaching activities at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels. The department offers an outstanding and
collegial research environment with a strong molecular genetic and
developmental focus, as well as active collaborations with other programs

As part of a new interdisciplinary initiative at NYU, applicants are invited
to apply for a faculty position (rank open) joint between the Courant
Institute of Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Biology/Center for
Comparative Functional Genomics to begin September 1, 2005, or as
negotiated, subject to budgetary and administrative approval. Candidates
working at the interface of Biology (genomics, regulatory networks, cell
biology) and Scientific Computation (bioinformatics, simulation, data
analysis and cellular modeling) are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates
will be expected to have or to develop active, externally funded research
programs, and to participate in teaching activities at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels. The Courant Institute is a leading
center in pure and applied mathematics and in computer science, with
research strengths of relevance to this initiative in ordinary and partial
differential equations, numerical analysis, machine learning, computational
biology, and probability theory. Appointments within the Courant Institute
can be made in either Computer Science or Mathematics. The Biology
Department is undergoing rapid growth in Genomics Faculty and with its
Center for Functional Comparative Genomics offers an outstanding and dynamic
research environment with a strong emphasis on the integration of genomics,
developmental genetics and evolution. An application letter with research
