The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation seeks applications for a research
associate/senior research associate II position. The successful
candidate will assist in the management of day-to-day activities of
the Cellular Imaging Facility, a campus wide bio-imaging laboratory
operated by the Plant Biology Division. The successful candidate will
work under the direction of the Head of the Cellular Imaging Facility
and will help ensure that all of the microscopy equipment are
effectively utilized and any maintenance issues are attended to in a
timely manner. Duties include: (1) Management of several light
microscope systems including 2 confocal microscopes (Bio-Rad 1024 and
Leica SP2 AOBS) and 1 laser micro capture micro-dissection system
(Zeiss PALM). (2) Support research projects of Foundation principal
investigators by ensuring that the equipment produces high quality
images for data analysis and publication. (3) Provide training and
technical assistance to postdoctoral fellows, research technicians
and research collaborators on equipment and laboratory procedures for
conducting experiments. (4) Work closely with microscope vendors to
ensure that instruments are properly maintained so that down time on
equipment is kept to a minimum. (5) Record daily instrument usage and
scheduling of equipment. (6) Identify future needs of the imaging
laboratory and assist in developing user policies within the facility.

In addition to the above duties, the successful candidate will have
the opportunity to conduct basic research in plant cell biology that
focuses on the role of the cytoskeleton in plant development and
gravity signaling/response. For more information on the service and
research activities of the lab visit our website at:
