The Department of Plant Biology at North Carolina State University =20
invites applications by Plant Cell Biologists for a 12 month, tenure-=20
track Assistant Professor position. We seek a broadly trained plant =20
cell biologist who uses cutting-edge techniques for live-cell imaging =20=
to address fundamental questions in plant cell biology. The =20
responsibilities include teaching and research. Teaching =20
responsibilities would depend on the candidate=92s area of expertise, =20=
but would involve teaching advanced level courses such as plant cell =20
biology or confocal microscopy. The individual is expected to develop =20=
a dynamic and productive, extramurally funded research program that =20
enhances and complements existing programs in the Department, College =20=
and University.
We are the basic plant biology department in the NC State University =20
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, serving as the focal point =20
for several interdepartmental and interdisciplinary programs in =20
research, teaching, and graduate training. Areas of research interest =20=
within the department include cellular, molecular, systems, and =20
developmental biology, functional genomics, phytochemistry, ecology, =20
and systematics.
The Department is home to the Cellular and Molecular Imaging Facility =20=
(http://www.ncsu.edu//project/cmif-micro/) which houses confocal and =20
light microscopy instrumentation. Other available facilities include =20
an herbarium, controlled environment growth facility (Phytotron), =20
electron microscopy center, and genomics, metabolomics and proteomics =20=
research laboratories. NC State University faculty also interact =20
extensively with colleagues at UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University =20
through seminars and symposia, including those sponsored by the NC =20
Consortium for Plant Molecular Biology. For further information =20
about the Department, please visit our website: http://cals.ncsu.edu/=20
plantbiology/ .
Candidates must have a PhD degree in plant biology or related =20
discipline, with expertise in plant cell biology and cellular imaging =20=
and a record of peer-reviewed publications and scholarly =20
accomplishments commensurate with experience. Postdoctoral =20
experience is preferred. To apply, please go to jobs.ncsu.edu and =20
search for position number EPV 01-05-0706. Applicants should attach =20
to the online application: a CV and a statement of research and =20
teaching interests. In addition, applicants should arrange for three =20=
letters of recommendation to be sent to: Dr. Wendy Boss, Chair, Plant =20=
Cell Biology Search Committee, Department of Plant Biology, North =20
Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, 27695-7612 (email: =20
wendy_boss from ncsu.edu). Applications received prior to Dec. 1, 2007 =20
will be assured of full consideration. The position is available =20
July 1, 2008.
