Dear Arabidopsis community,

As you probably know, funding for our major bioinformatics resource, TAIR,
is being eliminated. It is essential that the functionality of the database
and its connections to vital resources be maintained.

The community-led effort to develop the International Arabidopsis
Informatics Consortium (IAIC), led by Blake Meyers of the University of
Delaware and a preliminary Steering Committee, began last year response to
the loss of TAIR funding.

The IAIC Steering Committee is working with key members of TAIR and other
experts to develop the future Arabidopsis Informatics Portal that will
contain vital bioinformatics for Arabidopsis (and other plants.)

The IAIC will be guided by, and responsive to, an international Scientific
Advisory Board (SAB).
We are now soliciting nominations to the SAB.
Nominations are due by December 1, 2011.

Please see the temporary IAIC webpage for full details on what kinds of
advisors are being sought and the brief nomination process (top of page):

Joanna Friesner;
