A postdoctoral position is available to work on a collaborative project in
the Vogel lab at the DOE Joint Genome Institute in Walnut Creek, CA (
http://jgi.doe.gov/our-science/scientists-jgi/plant-functional-genomics/)
and in the Gaudin lab at UC Davis (http://gaudin.ucdavis.edu). The
successful candidate will develop a project focused on understanding the
effect of domestication on the ability of maize plants to influence the
composition and function of the root microbiome. As part of this project,
the candidate will characterize the microbiomes of a domestication series
of maize lines grown in natural soils and in controlled conditions using a
defined microbiome. Growth promotion by the microbiome will also be
measured. The successful candidate will have a strong background in
genetics, molecular biology and genomics. For more information contact John
Vogel jpvogel from lbl.gov or Amelie Gaudin (agaudin from ucdavis.edu). To apply,
