From Heather.Vincent from manchester.ac.uk Mon Feb 2 16:18:37 2009 From: Heather.Vincent from manchester.ac.uk (Heather Vincent) Date: Mon Feb 2 20:49:18 2009 Subject: [Arrays] Introduction to microarray data analysis - deadline reminder Message-ID: <4987632D.5040803@manchester.ac.uk> This is a reminder for those people considering taking our online course, which begins again in March 2009. The application deadline is 13 February. However, it is advisable to apply before the deadline to allow time for any questions in processing your application. I have included the course outline below; the full details are on our website (http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinformatics/modules/BIOL61010.html). If you have any questions, or need advice on the module options, please contact Heather.Vincent@manchester.ac.uk This course focuses on microarray analysis in the context of modelling for a systems approach to biology. Course participants will work through practical examples using maxdview, a visualisation environment for microarray data from The University of Manchester, and/or Bioconductor. The course is designed to be taken either as a stand-alone course for those already working with microarrays, or as a final module for those working towards a formal qualification in bioinformatics. In the context of the full programme in bioinformatics, the module builds on the methods covered in the earlier module, Introduction to Bioinformatics (http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinformatics/modules/bs6061.html). Week 1 Introductions and software setup Weeks 2 and 3 Microarrays and experimental design Weeks 4 and 5 Data capture and preliminary checks Weeks 6 and 7 Data analysis Weeks 8 and 9 2-channel data Weeks 10 and 11 Independent research and work on the first assessment Weeks 12 and 13 Gene Class Tests Weeks 14 to 16 Independent research and work on the second assessment
