Dear Colleagues,

Apologies if you receive this more than once.

This is a reminder that the deadline for abstracts for for consideration for an oral presentation is next Saturday, May 1st. If you would like the opportunity to be selected for one of our open speaking slots, please submit your abstract by then.

The MGED13 meeting will be in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and will take place July 13-15, 2010, in conjunction with the 18th Annual ISMB meeting.

Further information, including for registration, is available at http://mgedmeeting.org/ and key dates are:

Deadline for Abstract submission for consideration as an oral presentation: May 1st
Notice of acceptance: May 15th
Early registration ends: May 28th
Abstract submission closes: June 30th

The scientific focus of the meeting will be translational genomics and ultra high throughput sequencing - as well
as associated standards, data handling issues and analysis techniques. We will again have tutorials this year,
including two tutorials on the analysis of high throughput sequencing data - one using unix based tools, and one
using R and Bioconductor. Note, there will also be some available travel fellowships for students.

We have already lined up the following outstanding speakers (a preliminary program is available at the end of
this email):

Keynotes (confirmed)

- Eric Lander, Broad Institute, USA (joint Keynote with ISMB)
- George Church, Harvard Medical School (joint Keynote with ISMB)
- Eric Schadt, Pacific Biosciences, USA

Plenary Speakers (confirmed):

- Maja Bucan, University of Pennsylvania, USA
- Rick Bushman, University of Pennsylvania, USA
- Howard Chang, Stanford University, USA
- Roderic Guigo, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Spain
- Frank Holstege, University Medical Center Utrecht, The Netherlands
- Tom Hudson, Ontario Cancer Research Institute, Canada
- Aviv Regev, Broad Institute, USA
- Jay Shendure, University of Washington, USA
- Keith Baggerly, MD Anderson Cancer Center, USA

Tutorials and Workshops (confirmed):

Analysis of High Throughput Sequencing Data - Cole Trapnell, Angela Brooks, Steffen Durrinck
RNA-seq data analysis using R and Bioconductor - Angela Goncalves and Gabriella Rustici, EBI, UK
Workshop: Meta-analysis of Genomic Data - Aedin Culhane, DFCI, Misha Kapushesky, EBI, Kasper Lage, MGH, Soumya
Raychaudhuri, Broad
Workshop: MAGE-TAB Annotation Workshop - Ravi Shankar, Stanford; Helen Parkinson, EBI

In addition, this year we will again be selecting half of the plenary speakers from submitted abstracts, to
encourage greater participation in the MGED community. Continuing from last year, we will again be running a
poster competition, with prizes for the best posters by graduate and postdoctoral students.

We look forward to seeing you all in Boston,

Sincerely,
Gavin Sherlock
