Formants and speech perception

Eric, that is a strange comment for an audiologist to make. Speech is
by far the most important thing for deaf and hard of hearing people to hear.
Beware of being too flip with your answers. They can make you sound 
insensitive. It may not be the only thing, but speech is way out in front of 
whatever is in second place. I expect you're just being politically correct, 
i.e. the "deaf" do not want to be shackled by the "oppression" of the 
hearing or some other such nonsense.......
