Binaural recordings

I teach an undergraduate course in perception. I want to
demonstrate binaural recordings, ie recordings made with
microphones in the ear canals of a dummy head with
realistic pinnae. I've successfully made plaster replicas
of my pinnae, and assume now that it's just a matter of
creating a head-like object and shoving a couple of small
microphones in the right place.
Are there any pitfalls that I've overlooked?
I'd be grateful for replies by e-mail, as my newsreader
doesn't always work properly.
Thanks
