Over the past 25 year as a dispensing audiologist, many patients have
associated the onset and/or exacerbation of their hearing loss with recent
anesthesia. At first I chalked it up to coincidence. But, after hearing
this complaint from patients over so many years, I believe the is a
subtle, but definatenegative affect on the cochlea.
This is more typical in elderly patients. There does not seem to be any
fluctuation in the hearing loss.
