Earplugs and bone conduction

I would think that when you wear earplugs or a hearing aid earpiece,
there is an effect on sounds heard via bone conduction because of the
different impedance with which the bones of the middle ear are loaded.

Anyone know whether this has been looked at, and any references?

Thanks
