We know of a few people using dishwashers to clean plates, the largest 
being The Sanger Centre UK, The model is an industrial type from Lancer.
However good quality domestic models ( with sufficient internal capacity) 
work too! The main point to watch for is the integral filter, it must be 
as fine a mesh as possible to prevent the inevitable small particles of 
grit and glass being cycled around acting as a sand blaster. It must also 
be cleaned out regularly.
