I don't know of any program that just extracts the signal strengths and
looking at the strings in the chomat doesn't really give any clues.
However, the program VTRACE, written, by Brent Ewing at the University
of Washington, shows you the signal strengths in its output and you can
load all the chromats in a single directory at the same time. The
program is a actually very usefull to look at the traces of chromats in
a project or on a gel. It creates a postscript file that shows you as
many lines of the trace as you want along with the normal data stored in
the chromat file. That way you could step through them quickly. I know
this can be distributed to academic institutions, not sure about
commercial ventures. If you are interested you can can get in touch with
Brent at bge at u.washington.edu.
