Blisters or bubbles on front heat plate

DNA Sequencers or Tech service:

We have had several front heat plates develop bubbles or raised 
blisters in the last few months.  Happened on one that was "new" as 
well as older ones.  We had gone several years without this 
happening.  Does anyone know the cause?
