RESEARCH TECHNICIAN
Laboratory research technician positions are available in the new
Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics in Cambridge, MA. These
positions will allow applicants to play a significant role in high
throughput DNA sequencing, genotyping and DNA microarray technology
projects in a state-of-the-art facility. The DNA sequencing positions
involve general laboratory tasks, preparation of clones and libraries,
performing sequencing reactions, running ABI 3700 DNA sequencers, and
performing data analysis and sequence assembly. Candidates should have a
strong academic foundation in biology or related science field and some
laboratory experience from courses or from a prior laboratory
position. Moreover, applicants should have a sincere interest in
science. The positions will require attention to detail, good
communication skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of
a team and dedication to doing the best job possible. A minimum of a two
year commitment is required. Familiarity and facility with computers is
required. Some experience with library preparation or DNA sequencing is a
plus.
