Hi:
There are two programs worth trying:
Chromas, available from http://www.technelysium.com.au/chromas.html is
shareware and costs about US$39 after a trial period of 60 days.

GeneStudio, available from http://www.genestudio.com is a very
sophisticated suite of programs.  The SeqVerter component is free and
is probably the best viewer of automatic DNA traces (chromatograms)
available.  The other two components of GeneStudio: Alignment editor
and Contig editor function beyond 60 days only in the registered
version.
