Good point. Perhaps we should make the distinction between
SHAREWARE -- Copyright by author(s), distributed with understanding
that users will subsequently contribute some cash for the software.
FREEWARE -- This may or may not be copyright, but is freely distributed
and you don't have to pay for it. Lots of patches for Mac software
are distributed this way, for example.
and of course: COMMERCIAL. Pay up front and caveat emptor.
