One week ago, I posted an announcement about a local similarity
program called SIM. Philip Doggett and Finn Drablos have found that
the SIM program runs into an infinite loop on some machines
since the variable "symbol" in the main procedure is declared as CHAR.
The fix is to declare "symbol" as INT or LONG.
The corrected copy of SIM is also available from the
University of Houston file server at the address:
gene-server at bchs.uh.edu (internet)
gene-server%bchs.uh.edu at CUNYVM (BITNET)
with the Subject line as
Subject: send unix sim.shar
SIM can also be obtained from the EMBL File Server by sending the command
GET UNIX_SOFTWARE:SIM.UUE
to
NETSERV at EMBL.BITNET
Sorry for inconvenience.
