PIR Release 29 has been corrected and is now
available on menudo.uh.edu, 129.7.1.6, for anonymous
FTP.
The VMS files are compressed and are in
/var/ftp/pub/genbank-server/pir/vms (ca. 55 MB)
These files are suitable for use in GCG.
The ASCII files are in
/var/ftp/pub/genbank-server/pir/ascii (ca. 15 MB)
and are also compressed.
Two different VMS decompress executables are available in
/var/ftp/pub/genbank-server/pir.
Be sure to read the release notes and to transfer all .Z files in
binary mode ("bin" or "type bin" or "type image" at the "ftp> "
prompt).
Many thanks to the National Biomedical Research Foundation/Protein
Information Resource and Bill Pearson for their assistance in making
these data available publically.
