Immunological "neuro-nets"

I expect that someone out there has done some work to study this
effect; in _The Youngest Science: Notes of a Medicine Watcher_ (1983),
Lewis Thomas muses on relationships between neurbiological function
and immunological function, and then proceeds to talk about computers.
