Computerized lab notebook?

As many biologists' lab is in the field, which could be in places with extreme
conditions (you should see my collection of waterproof inks, paper and pouches)
a battery operated, small keyboard, not 100% reliable instrument, often oper-
ated while wearing gloves, would be less than desirable. On the other hand,
individual preference will be the final determinant, as it always is.
An interesting, related article appears in today's (10 Dec) Washington Post in
the travel section about how to travel with a notebook computer, detailing
many of the problems one encounters and how to overcome or accomodate them.
