ncbi searches of sequences

If you have the current "HGopher" program for MS-Windows (or GopherApp++ or
TurboGopher for Macs), then you can use gopher to do your sequence searches
(via NCBI's BLAST server). Just gopher over to ftp.bio.indiana.edu (IUBio
archive), look in Gopher+TEST/ Gopher+ Mol. Biology services/ and look for
the ncbi-blast item.

If you don't have a good gopher+ client like the above ones, you can use
your older gopher to either retrieve the newer gopher software &/or to
read the "ncbi-blast-help" file there which will explain how you can
use e-mail to do your homology search.
