Reference Management

A vote for EndNote

I have used EndNote for several years and find it superb. Its bibliographic
management may not have all the bells and whistles of ProCite (many of
which I do not need) but on the Mac it can be integrated into Microsoft
Word. EndNote becomes a Word menu item that can be called up at anytime to
search the database, insert citations into the text, generate a reference
list etc. If you need to change the format of the citations or the
reference list because Nature did not except your paper, no problem, just
choose a new format from the menu and its ready for submission to another
journal. I never worry that a reference is missing or that it has been
typed or formatted incorrectly.

I think anyone writing papers should have a reference management system,
and if you use Word on a Mac, EndNote is a good choice.

(I am not sure how it works with other Mac word processors or on PCs, but I
believe there is a DOS/Windows version available)
