designing oligonucleotides

I use Oligo to design both PCR primers and sequencing primers. Alot of 
times, due to incorporarion of restriction sites, duplex formation of my 
primers have had dGs of -12 kcal/mol with no ill effects. as long as the 
melting temp of the duplex (Oligo calculates these for me, your program 
may/may not) is sufficiently lower than the ann temp of your rxn, you 
should not have any problems.
