All Macintosh owners who use SAM - Symantec AntiVirus should install the
new "SAM Virus Definitions" file that was created on 7/28/95 to maintain
optimum protection against computer viruses. (Unfortunately this
provides no protection against the dreadful Windows 95 syndrome.)
1. Check the date when your SAM Virus Definitions file was created.
SAM Virus Definitions file should be stored in your System Folder.
Double click on SAM Virus Definitions file.
The date when the virus definition file was created will appear on
screen only for a few seconds.
2. Download the most recent update of the SAM Virus Definitions file via
World Wide Web. Today I used the Mac Shareware Archive UFlorida
ftp://ftp.circa.ufl.edu/pub/software/ufmug/mirrors/Info-mac/recent/
to download the file named: sam4-virus-defs-95-07.hqx
Stufflt software or equivalent was needed to uncompress the file
Note: other software archives are available, but at least one of them
has a defective copy of the SAM Definitions file, so beware and be sure
to check the date created to ensure that you have a working file!
