The latest version 2.0, as well as the the redoubtable 1.x, is available
from ftp.virginia.edu in /pub/fasta.

You didn't mention which platform you need it for.  Version 2.0 is also 
available for macintosh, while it appears that you might have to settle for
1.x for DOS, unless you want to compile it yourself.
