Re: Announcing the new Bielefeld bioinformatics web server.

With the help of a substantial hardware grant from Sun Microsystems 
we are able to offer the services of the 

	Bielefeld University Bioinformatics Server
	http://bibiserv.TechFak.Uni-Bielefeld.DE

to the community.

The machine is both, a fast computer to run web-based bioinformatics 
software and an integration point for the bioinformatics activities 
at Bielefeld University.

Bibiserv provides:
- Sequence Analysis Tools, such as
  DCA, 	      Divide and Conquer Multiple Sequence Alignment
  GeneFisher, design of degenerate primers for PCR
  RIFLE,      16sDNA based identification of microorganisms
  ROSE,       a new probabilistic model of sequence evolution 
  SplitsTree, using split decomposition to analyse and visualize distance data

- a Bioinformatics Software Laboratory,
  giving a preview at new software currently being developed

- Distance Education and Training Resources, such as 
  the award winning VSNS BioComputing Online Course

- a Virtual Study Project Agency, initiating projects via telecooperation.
